Bay of Stoer Sunset
Location:
Just south of the Stoer Peninsular on the B869 in the parish of Assynt, Sutherland, lies the small crofting village of Stoer. A short walk south of the village lies the Bay of Stoer, and if your a nut for rocks then it’s the place to be.
Now I’m no geologist by any degree, nevertheless, at the Bay of Stoer you can find excellent examples of Precambrian sandstone layers, with different textures and structures. Meteorite deposits thrown out from an ancient lost impact crater, have also been found.
Hours can be spent exploring all different shape and sizes of Lewisian gneiss, and Torridon sandstone. Do not be concerned, however, if you come across some stranger wielding a hammer! It’s purely the tool of the geologist and nothing more sinister. 🙂
With an inexhaustible amount of foreground interest, vast opportunities exist for photography.

Lost to the Sea:
The coast guard was out searching for a sea angler during our visit, washed away from the bay only days earlier when conditions were slightly more ferocious.
The Bay has a reputation for being unforgiving. A reminder that care should be taken on the hunt for that ultimate sunset shot.

Hi! We are a small accounting company near Glasgow called Stoer accounting. We named ourselves this as we absolutely adore the area and visit frequently. I was looking for some pictures to use as a background for our website and LOVE these images. Can you please contact me, would love to come to an agreement to use these if possible.
Thanks
John
